NNPC faults fuel shortage on vandals, degenerate oil advertisers

The NNPC in an announcement to the Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream in Abuja, said that the Senate had given it a two-week final proposal to end the fuel shortage.

The Senate Committee, Managing Director of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company, PPMC, a backup of the NNPC, Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, expressed that Nigeria has lost an aggregate of 531 million liters of petrol esteemed at over N50 billion to pipeline vandals in the middle of January and September, 2015, at the System 2B Pipeline system which covers from the Atlas Cove in Lagos to Ilorin.

Nnamdi-Ogbue said that the constant vandalization of pipeline at the Arepo to Mosimi hub of the pipeline corridor, have made the supply of petroleum items to retail outlets troublesome.

She said PPMC is doing all that they can to ensure they supply truck-out from warehouses in Lagos, Oghara and as of late Calabar.

She, in any case, noticed that the endeavors to supply enough fuel the nation over are being hampered by the exercises of a few deceitful advertisers included in accumulating and occupying of petroleum items available to be purchased in underground markets the nation over.

She said:

"We see this as a twisting to the economy and we have welcomed the DSS and the EFCC to make a move."
